Five 14 is two girls, staying true to their roots, and giving us music that we love.
Amanda, lead vocals and guitar, has been involved with music since she was young. She started guitar at 13 and at the age of 17 decided that she wasn’t going to become “just another starving artist.” After college, she started songwriting and performing solo.
“While in the front row at a concert in 2016, I asked myself the question of ‘how do I get up there?’ I knew I couldn’t do it alone and needed a bigger sound. I contacted Cami and off we went.”
Cami, the drummer and percussionist for Five 14, actually received guitar lessons from Amanda years ago, but then switched to the drums when her worship leader asked if she was interested in playing the drums.
“I was an expert on the game Rock Band and I figured ‘yeah I’m sure they are super similar I’ll give it a try.’ Shortly after that I started playing the drums and found I was actually decent at it and enjoyed playing. Then one day Amanda contacted me and asked if I’d like to jam and that was that.”
Five 14 is having an EP release party on Friday night, March 30th at the Mesa Theater. Their EP “Puzzle Pieces” features five originals, and their love for Colorado definitely seeps through.
