There is a hue for pumpkin spice. There’s pumpkin spice for everything. There is a pumpkin spice scented diaper for expectant mothers. I’m not too sure on how that would smell, but I’d bet you don’t want to know.
What you do want to know is how to get free paint for all your around the house, garage, shop, shed, or whatever needs. The Painted Mesa has everything you need for your upgrade ambitions. And the Planet has teamed up with them to make it even easier, by giving you a head start, courtesy of the Painted Mesa and Benjamin Moore Paints. Spruce up for the Holidays and get whatever you need ready for the holiday hosting.
It can be quite the task, painting, which is why we asked the owner of The Painted Mesa, Joe McAlpin, a few questions for you in case you needed tips getting started.
1.) How do you choose the right color?
Picking the right color can be difficult. The lighting, carpet, and tile can be some of the factors that make picking the right color difficult. The best start would be to pick color chips you think would work and take them home to look at in the room you are going to paint. Once you have narrowed down the selection, Benjamin Moore can make 1/2 pint color samples you can put on the walls to look at and determine if that color works for you.
2.) What steps should one take to get ready for painting, no matter what size of job?
Make sure all the area, you want to paint, is clean. Cover anything in the room you do not wish to get paint on and tape off edges, such as around trim, to make sure you do not get paint on unwanted areas. Pick the correct brush and roller for the application of the paint. And make sure you have the correct paint for the job you are going to do. Many people think all paint is the same but it is not. The wrong or poor quality paint will lead to disappointment.
3.)What is best way to get rid of old paint? (paint over it, scrape, etc. etc.)
If paint is old but still adheres to the wall, the only real concern is to make sure that the surface is clean. Benjamin Moore offers several self priming paints that will give complete coverage of the old surface and make the walls look new.
Thanks, Joe. That being said, don’t be this guy (see below), who thinks he has everything he needs to redo the rumpus room this year to impress Grandma. Save yourself the hassle and contact the pros at The Painted Mesa before getting started.
